Lactose intolerance

Lactose is the natural sugar found in milk. If you don’t have enough of the enzyme lactase in your body, you are lactose intolerant and eating dairy products may cause digestive problems.

Some dairy products contain more lactose than others and if you are lactose intolerant, you may want to look closely at this overview. If you prefer to avoid lactose completely, you can safely choose our lactose-free products and still enjoy all the taste and nutritious goodness of regular milk. Uncommon among children

We are born with the ability to digest lactose in order to utilise all the good nutrients in breast milk. During childhood, this ability can be reduced, although it is rare that children are lactose intolerant before their school-age. Whether and how much the ability decreases, depends on our genetic predispositions.

Allergy to milk is not the same as Lactose intolerance

Lactose intolerance is often confused with being allergic to milk, which is far more serious. If you are allergic to cows’ milk, your body can not tolerate the proteins in milk. You should always contact professional medical advice, and you should avoid dairy products.
